Tahhan Nazif: The Hijab and Chastity Bill has not yet been approved by the Guardian Council

The spokesperson for the Guardian Council stated that the Hijab and Chastity Bill has not yet been approved by the Guardian Council. Regarding a claim made by one of the parliament members that all branches of the system have reached a consensus on penalizing non-compliance with hijab, he emphasized that the preparation, drafting, and approval of bills and proposals are the responsibility of the government and parliament, and the Guardian Council does not get involved in the technical discussions of the representatives.

Hadi Tahhan Nazif, referring to the latest status of the review process of the Hijab and Chastity Bill in the Guardian Council, said that this bill has been back and forth several times between the parliament and the Guardian Council, and the latest amendments to this bill were also reviewed in the Guardian Council meeting.

He stated that the Hijab and Chastity Bill has not yet been approved by the Guardian Council, explaining that due to some errors and ambiguities, the bill was sent back to the parliament. After the parliament corrects and resolves the issues, we will review it again in the Guardian Council.
