Taliban Defense Minister Meets with Amir of Qatar

The Taliban Defense Minister met with the Amir of Qatar.

Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Defense Minister, and Fazluddin Fetrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban army in Doha, met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar.

These two senior military officials of the Taliban traveled to Doha on Saturday to participate in the eighth international exhibition of naval defense industries and meet with Qatari officials.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, wrote on Twitter that during this meeting, they discussed strengthening the relationship between the two countries. The Amir of Qatar called Afghanistan a friendly and brotherly country, and the Taliban Defense Minister also appreciated Qatar’s good mediation in the peace process and the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan.

Earlier, they also met and held discussions with Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, the Defense Minister of Qatar.

Qatar has warm relations with the Taliban government and is a custodian of America’s interests in Afghanistan.
