Taliban’s request to Putin for participation in the BRICS summit

The spokesperson for the Taliban group said on Tuesday that the group is interested in joining the BRICS economic summit, which is scheduled to be held from October 22 to 24 in the city of Kazan, Russia.

Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Taliban government, stated that countries with major resources and the world’s largest economies, especially Russia, India, and China, are participating in the BRICS summit. We currently have good economic relations and trade exchanges with them and are eager to expand our relations and participate in the BRICS economic summit.

The BRICS group, which has recently accepted the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Ethiopia, has not shown any reaction to this request from the Taliban.

A spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced on Wednesday, September 26, in an interview with the French news agency, that there is still no new information regarding an invitation to this summit.
