A member of the Tehran City Council stated that not a single electric vehicle has succeeded in receiving a taxi license plate.

A member of the Tehran City Council’s Transportation Commission announced that not a single electric vehicle has succeeded in receiving a taxi license plate, and only promises have been made about the introduction of electric vehicles, with no evidence or reports of implementation.

Ali Asghar Ghaemi, in his pre-agenda warning during today’s session of the Tehran City Council, read his warning text addressed to Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, stating that as you are aware, the city management unveiled electric taxis in three stages last year.

He pointed out that the municipality has yet to take action regarding after-sales services and has not introduced a qualified automobile manufacturer. He stated that not a single electric vehicle has succeeded in receiving a taxi license plate, and the issue remains that government subsidies from Article 12 and the Economic Council have not been resolved. Only promises have been made about the introduction of electric vehicles, and there is still no evidence or reports of the implementation of this resolution.
