Tehran Fire Department warns that if 11 critical bazaars are not addressed before Nowruz, they will be sealed.
Kamran Abdoli, Deputy Director of Prevention at Tehran Fire Department, stated on Friday, November 13, that restaurants in Tehran’s bazaar use LPG cylinders, which are much more dangerous than gas pipelines. He said if the 11 critical bazaars are not resolved before Nowruz, they will be sealed.
According to Khabar Online, Kamran Abdoli highlighted the unsafe condition of buildings in Tehran’s bazaar, noting that the bazaar area, due to its high flammability, is prone to specific fires, and the materials present are mostly flammable and highly combustible.
He emphasized that in the event of fires in the bazaar, there is little time to reach the scene, and it is crucial that fires are identified immediately and extinguishing operations are conducted in the shortest time after the incident begins.
The Deputy Director of Prevention at the Fire Department spoke about the 11 critical bazaars in Tehran and their disregard for issued warnings, mentioning incidents like the Champs Elysees and Aluminum commercial centers a few weeks ago. He assured that given the volume of goods and visitors, these bazaars are moving towards disconnection and sealing.
He pointed out the issue of gas piping for restaurants in Tehran’s bazaar, stating that major restaurants use LPG cylinders, which are far more dangerous than gas piping.
Following the regulations and standards of the Gas Company and the Engineering Organization, gas transfer to restaurants, mainly located on 15 Khordad Street and its southern side, is safer than using cylinders that, in case of an accident, could destroy an entire area.
