Text of Tajzadeh’s letter to Ayatollah Khamenei

Fakhri Mohtashami, the wife of Mostafa Tajzadeh, published his recent letter to the leadership through a series of tweets. The text of Tajzadeh’s letter to Ayatollah Khamenei is as follows: In the name of God, Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, Greetings. I have written this letter at the end of my three-month illegal detention in solitary confinement in Ward 2A of Evin Prison, which is under the complete control and authority of the IRGC Intelligence officers, with great difficulty, with the aim of once again reminding you of the arbitrary actions of the IRGC Intelligence officers.

As you are aware, on the evening of Friday, July 8th, several IRGC officers suddenly raided our residence and arrested me, an act that not only lacked any legal basis but could only be a display of the arbitrary behavior of this bullying entity. Since that date, except for a few insignificant and forced instances, none of the legal rights of a prisoner have been observed in my case. Even the severe physical condition that led to my hospitalization at the Tehran Heart Center and emergency medical interventions did not change this approach. Contrary to the doctors’ recommendations, I was returned to solitary confinement under unsuitable conditions after angioplasty.

In general, despite the formation of a court and the issuance of a verdict, I am still deprived of the rights similar to other prisoners, and apparently, the IRGC Intelligence has no intention of transferring me to the general ward. The officers of this security agency claim full authority to break the law and ignore the current regulations regarding me, to the extent that they have deprived me of access to communication facilities similar to other prisoners, including radio, television, and prison newspapers, and they are pleased that in this way, I remain unaware of the minimum news from outside and even inside the prison. I emphasize once again that the purpose of writing this letter is to remind you of the deeply law-defying conduct of the IRGC officers as judicial enforcers.

Now, if you were unaware of the conditions imposed by them, whose organization is under your direct supervision, on one of your critics, it is expected that after the publication of this letter and gaining the necessary awareness of these conditions, you will issue an immediate and strict order to stop these law violations. And if these injustices and restrictions occur with your approval and endorsement, I express my deep concern to the people. When someone who has proudly dedicated his life to the dignity of Iran and Iranians and has committed no crime other than criticizing the leader’s performance and listing his mistakes with sincere and respectful intentions in the hope of reform faces such blatant lawlessness, what happens to the youth who have no support and no known identity, and what befalls them in the detention centers and during the interrogations by the IRGC officers?
