The Agriculture Commission approved the nomination of Farzaneh Sadegh as the proposed Minister of Roads.
The spokesperson of the Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources Commission of the parliament announced the commission’s approval of the proposed plans of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development.
In today’s afternoon public session of the parliament, the Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources Commission read out their opinion regarding Farzaneh Sadegh, the proposed Minister of Roads and Urban Development.
If she is voted in as a minister, she will be the first female Minister of Roads in Iran’s history and the second female minister in the history of the Islamic Republic.
In the proposed list for Farzaneh Sadegh’s cabinet, Masoud Pezeshkian is the only woman among the ministers.
She is remembered as one of the influential figures in Iran’s architectural and urban policies. During Mohammad Islami’s presidency in 2018, she was appointed as the Deputy of Urban Planning and Architecture in Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet.
In August 2023, Mehrdad Bazrpash dismissed her from the deputy position in the ministry. At that time, her letters to Tehran’s mayor, Alireza Zakani, regarding the construction of buildings in the old texture of Tehran had attracted media attention.
