The Asian Football Confederation prohibits the display of political and religious images.

The Asian Football Confederation has once again warned the clubs participating in Asian competitions to refrain from displaying images of political and religious figures in the stadiums hosting their matches, as if such images are shown, the AFC will fine and sanction the respective club.

Badr Al-Bulaheed, a Saudi journalist close to the AFC, wrote on his social media page that the Asian Football Confederation and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) have banned such actions and will penalize any violations. The most recent case was a fine imposed on Iran’s Sepahan team last season when they displayed images of political figures before their match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad at the stadium.

The football teams Esteghlal and Persepolis represent Iran in the Asian Elite League, and the teams Tractor and Sepahan represent Iran in the AFC Champions League 2. So far, each of them has played one match in the new Asian season, with Esteghlal and Tractor defeating their opponents, while Persepolis and Sepahan were defeated by their rivals.
