Charge of Moharebeh for Sonia Sharifi

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that Sonia Sharifi, a 17-year-old high school sophomore, has been charged with moharebeh (waging war against God).

According to this report, security forces arrested Sonia Sharifi on November 19 at her grandmother’s house in Abdanan and transferred her to the Ilam Juvenile Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

Apparently, the agents severely beat the 17-year-old during her arrest. The Kurdistan Human Rights Network writes that the interrogators forced Sonia to make a coerced confession to making Molotov cocktails and writing slogans.

Mahmoud Farahmand, a Norwegian parliament member of Iranian descent, has taken on the political sponsorship of Sonia Sharifi, the 17-year-old, and Mohammad Broghani, the 19-year-old sentenced to death.
