The Coordinating Council of Cultural Professional Associations: Iranians Demand an End to Oppression and Plundering

2 Min Read

The Coordinating Council of Cultural Associations’ demand is the end of oppression and plundering for Iranians.

In response to the execution of Mohsen Shekari, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Cultural Associations warned in a statement that the authorities should release all protesters and critics of the current situation and annul the judicial sentences issued against them before it’s too late.

Even if Mohsen Shekari’s crime was proven, he should have been sentenced to a grade six imprisonment, which could have resulted in three months to a year in prison. Unfortunately, without prior notice, on December 8, they suddenly ended the life of this 23-year-old by setting up the gallows.

Mohsen Shekari and other victims of the people’s revolutionary uprising are casualties of managerial corruption, inefficiency, embezzlement, and the plundering by the government.

Using executions to end nationwide protests is a false notion.

The rulers of Iran deliberately insist not only on shooting protesters in the streets but also on disabling the weapon of law, issuing sentences that conflict with the most basic principles of legal procedures to create intimidation.

The rightful demand of Iranians is the end of oppression and plundering, and the restoration of justice and freedom.

Reviving the outdated methods of the 1980s and the massacres of 1988 will accelerate protests and discontent even further.
