While it is reported that in recent days, numerous areas of the forested areas in 12 cities of Gilan province have been affected by extensive fires, other reports indicate that 9 hectares of forests in western Mazandaran have been destroyed in the past two days due to fires.
Maziar Rezavi, the head of natural resources and watersheds in Gilan, announced on Tuesday, the 7th of Azar, in an interview with Mehr News Agency, that 105 hectares of forest lands in Gilan province have been affected by fires, and these fires have occurred in 12 cities and 50 locations in Gilan.
He attributed the occurrence of these fires to strong winds, temperature increase, and the negligence of the people, and other authorities in the region have also stated that the negligence of unauthorized hunters and diggers is the reason for this situation.
The General Directorate of Natural Resources and Watersheds in Gilan reports that due to strong winds and a significant decrease in humidity, fires are continuing in many areas in the highlands of Masal, Rudbar-e-Shahrestan, and Astara, and there is still no accurate information about the extent of damage and the area affected by the fires.
