The German embassy denied claims of fully resuming its activities in Tehran

While Iranian media have claimed that German diplomats have resumed their activities in Tehran, the website of the German embassy in Tehran has denied this claim, stating that the embassy is currently addressing emergency cases and visa applications and consular services are still not possible.

The German embassy clarified that applicants wishing to retrieve their passports must fill out the relevant forms and collect them by appointment.

Iranian media had claimed on Monday that the German embassy had resumed its activities after a temporary relocation outside the country, but is currently operating with a limited number of staff, which affects the capacity to process visa applications.

Ismail Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, also said on Monday that the closure of European embassies in Tehran is not true.
