The Group of Seven called for the immediate and complete restoration of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The leaders of the Group of Seven stated in a joint declaration that they demand the immediate and complete restoration of the rights and principles of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and will enhance their collective efforts to ensure the safe passage of ships. The Group of Seven also supported U.S. actions to maintain the flow of trade through the Strait of Hormuz and considered disruptions to navigation in this route a threat to energy security and the global economy. This statement was released simultaneously with the G7’s decision to coordinate the release of 100 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products from emergency reserves, an action aimed at curbing pressure on the energy market and reducing fuel price volatility.
