The heads of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and Russia signed an agreement to construct eight nuclear power plants.

On Saturday, the head of the Islamic Republic’s Atomic Energy Organization announced the construction of 8 nuclear power plants in the country, stating that the construction of four plants in Bushehr and four in other locations, which will be announced by the government later, is planned in collaboration with the Russian government.

On Saturday, November 10th, Mohammad Eslami, Deputy of Pezeshkian and head of the Atomic Energy Organization, during a meeting with senior managers of the nuclear industry, referred to the signing of an agreement for the construction of eight nuclear power plants in collaboration with Russia, and said that according to the plans, nuclear power plants will be built in various parts of the country to ensure sustainable and clean nuclear energy can supply the required electricity.

Eslami claimed that by constructing power plants in different parts of the country, we can achieve the production of 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity.

These statements are made while in recent years, no significant achievements in nuclear electricity production have been reported in Iran, and the country has faced an energy crisis and electricity shortages in recent months.
