The head of the Iranian judiciary says many Iranians abroad are inclined to return but lack trust. Mechanisms need to be established to create mutual trust between the parties involved.

Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei mentioned this during a meeting with several Iranian foreign ministry officials.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign minister, was also present at this meeting.

Mr. Mohseni-Ejei suggested that some legal and judicial affairs of Iranians abroad might be resolved in a way that they wouldn’t need to visit the country, thereby instilling confidence and trust in them for returning to their homeland.

These remarks come at a time when the arrest of dual-national Iranians in Iran has significantly increased in recent years. Some Western governments claim that the Iranian government is using this method to address its foreign issues.
