The House of Humanities Thinkers Sealed by Municipality

The House of Humanities Thinkers was sealed by the municipality.

Following the evacuation and sealing of the House of Humanities Thinkers, a Shahnameh reading session was held on the street in front of this building, a house that the Tehran municipality wants to shut down.

Two years ago, the municipality had also evacuated and sealed the House of Humanities Thinkers.

Abdolmottaleb Mohammadi, the spokesperson for Tehran’s municipality, told reporters in a meeting in June of this year that a clear and explicit violation has occurred because the property, which belongs to public assets, has been handed over to a private institution.

He said the issue is not political or factional, and the violation is clear.

What seems apparent is that these restrictions align with the goals of the leader of the Islamic Republic, who has repeatedly criticized the state of the humanities.
