The Japanese series ‘Soccer Players’ ends after 43 years

The popular manga series ‘Captain Tsubasa’, known in Iran as ‘Soccer Players’, has come to an end after nearly half a century.

The final installment of this series, which has sold 90 million copies in over 50 countries, was released on Thursday in Japan.

This Japanese comic series first appeared in 1981 by Yoichi Takahashi in the weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Its popularity led to the series being published independently under the name ‘Captain Tsubasa’, and in 1983, an animated series with the same name was aired on Japanese television.
