The leader of the Islamic Republic says not voting has no achievements or benefits.
Less than 48 hours before the start of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and Assembly of Experts elections, Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has called for citizens to participate in these elections.
Mr. Khamenei said in a speech in Tehran that those who express disinterest in the elections and encourage others not to participate should think a bit more; not voting has no achievements or benefits and does not solve any problem of the country.
Some media outlets and politicians in Iran say the elections are being held in a cold atmosphere and citizens have no desire to participate.
The leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said some inside the country are indifferent to the elections. I am not accusing anyone, but I remind everyone that we should look at the elections from the perspective of national interests, not from partisan and group perspectives. If the elections are weak, everyone loses. Anyone who loves Iran, its people, and its security should know that if the elections are weakly held, no one benefits, and everyone suffers.
The chief of staff of Hassan Rouhani, the former president of Iran, has said that according to surveys, the participation rate will be low. The Guardian Council has disqualified Mr. Rouhani from participating in the Assembly of Experts elections.
Voting in the two elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts in Iran will be on Friday.
Iran has announced that it will no longer stamp identification booklets for voting, and a national ID number is required for this purpose, and other identity documents can also be used to vote.
