Iran’s Ministry of Health has laboratory kits for HMPV testing in the country.
Kermanpour, the head of the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health, mentioned that this virus is not new and similar to coronavirus, it may mutate and create different strains. It is possible that this virus is in Iran, but so far it has not been detected in the tests conducted.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, there were no laboratory testing kits available for coronavirus identification, but we have kits for HMPV and it is being monitored daily.
Considering the necessary preparations, the possibility of an epidemic outbreak of this virus is low, but it is logical to be prepared so that we are not caught off guard. All health networks in the country are fully prepared.
Kermanpour emphasized the importance of regular hand washing, using masks in crowded places, avoiding crowded areas, and resting when symptoms occur as preventive measures for this disease. He also mentioned that like most viral diseases, there is no definitive cure. It is important to remember that even after centuries, the common cold, which is viral, still has no cure.
