The Oldest and Youngest Provinces of Iran According to Statistics

Based on data from the Iranian Statistics Center, the highest percentage of child, adolescent, and young population in Iran resides in five provinces: Sistan and Baluchestan at 17.6%, South Khorasan at 15.1%, Hormozgan at 15%, Kerman at 14.7%, and North Khorasan at 14.5%.

In contrast, the provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, Markazi, Hamedan, and Tehran have the highest population of those aged 65 and over and the lowest population of those aged 15 to 24.

This population estimate conducted in the year 1402 indicates that the proportion of Iran’s population aged 15 to 24 last year was 13.3%, while the proportion of the population aged 65 and over, or elderly, was 7.3% across the country.

Gilan province has the highest percentage of elderly population at 10.8%, followed by Mazandaran at 9.4%, Markazi at 9.4%, and Hamedan and Tehran at 8.4%.

Iranian authorities employ various pressures to encourage childbirth, but apparently, these pressures have not been effective in many areas.
