The President of Turkey says the US and the UK are trying to turn the Red Sea into a sea of blood.
Continuing the international reactions to the US and UK attacks against the Houthis, the President of Turkey has stated that the US and the UK are attempting to turn the Red Sea into a sea of blood. Erdogan also described the attacks as a disproportionate use of force compared to the actions of the Houthis.
On Friday, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, called the US and UK attacks against the Houthis in Yemen illegitimate under international law and condemned them. He said that the UN Security Council resolution on Wednesday, which Russia abstained from voting on, did not grant any right to the US and the UK to carry out these attacks.
Despite this, Mr. Peskov said that Russia has repeatedly urged the Houthis to stop attacking ships in the Red Sea.
On Friday, the spokesperson for Japan’s Foreign Ministry told reporters in Tokyo that his country, while condemning the actions of the Houthis, supports its allies who are working to secure the maritime passage. Recent attacks by the Houthis have damaged ships, including those owned by Japan.
