An internal survey shows that Instagram is the most popular social network among Iranians, while domestic messaging apps have the least popularity among citizens.

According to the latest survey by ISPA, a student opinion research center in Iran, which was published on Tuesday, 2nd of Bahman, 465% of Iranians use Instagram as a social media platform, 353% use WhatsApp as a messaging app, and 346% use Telegram as a messaging app.

The results of this survey also indicate that domestic messaging apps have less popularity among Iranians despite extensive advertising.

These statistics come at a time when domestic messaging apps receive substantial funding from the government and have significant advertising campaigns to increase their penetration among Iranian users, while foreign social networks and messaging apps are completely filtered and users need to use VPNs to access them.
