The UK government has addressed pending asylum cases

The British government has addressed the backlog of asylum cases.

The British government has stated that it has dealt with and announced decisions on a large number of pending asylum cases, as promised by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Currently, tens of thousands of asylum seekers are waiting for preliminary decisions on their status, as they navigate through the bureaucratic process.

The UK Home Office has stated that the fate of all old pending cases has been determined.

By pending cases, it refers to those with dates prior to June 2022.

Critics of the government, including some members of the ruling Conservative Party, argue that the figures provided by government officials are incorrect.

Mr. Sunak had pledged to partially address the fate of these backlog cases, partly due to criticism over the heavy cost of accommodating thousands of undocumented asylum seekers in the country.
