The United States called for an inclusive and transparent political process to form a new government in Syria.

The United States has announced its conditions for recognizing a new government in Syria, stating that any government replacing the Bashar al-Assad regime must respect minority rights, prevent Syrian territory from becoming a base for terrorism, and destroy all of Bashar al-Assad’s chemical and biological weapons arsenals.

Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, also emphasized that other countries should refrain from interfering in Syria’s destiny.

The White House is seeking to pull Syria out of the orbit of Iran and Russia, who were the main supporters of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
