The US aircraft carrier Gerald Ford has arrived in the Caribbean
According to Al Jazeera, the US Navy’s Southern Command announced that the Gerald Ford, which was ordered to be deployed about three weeks ago, has entered its operational area in Latin America and the Caribbean region.
This institution emphasized that the mission’s goal is to protect regional security and combat illegal drug trafficking.
Since last August, Washington has maintained its military presence in the Caribbean Sea, which includes six warships, stating that the purpose of this presence is to prevent drug trafficking into the United States.
As a result of 20 airstrikes on ships the United States suspected of carrying drugs, at least 76 people have been killed.
In response, Venezuela announced the implementation of a widespread military deployment across the country, reacting to what it described as American imperialist threats.
Vladimir Padrino López, Venezuela’s Defense Minister, announced that his country has deployed ground, naval, air, and missile forces, as well as units from the Bolivarian militias, to strengthen national defense.
