The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Trump’s request to revoke birthright citizenship.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied Donald Trump’s request to end the automatic granting of citizenship to children born on U.S. soil to undocumented immigrant parents.
Trump and his legal team, by presenting a new interpretation of the law, sought to revoke this practice, but the majority of Supreme Court justices refrained from changing the 150-year legal precedent and the new interpretation of the Constitution and federal laws in favor of this request.
This decision is considered a significant defeat for the U.S. President and will likely push him towards adopting other strategies to limit the entry of undocumented immigrants, as preventing these individuals from entering would also negate the issue of granting citizenship to their children born in the U.S.
