The Wall Street Journal: The agreement between Iran and Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is nearing finalization
The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran and Oman are finalizing a draft agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the two parties have reached an understanding on the main points of this plan.
According to the report, the proposed agreement allows Iran to monitor ships entering the Persian Gulf through the strait, but Tehran will not be permitted to charge fees or service costs from the ships.
The draft agreement also envisions the creation of an entry route near the Iranian coast and an exit route near Oman.
The Wall Street Journal says this draft has been shared for review with the United States, regional countries, and senior Iranian officials, and negotiations to finalize it are ongoing.
