The forest fires in Gilan and Mazandaran continue.
While reports indicate that in recent days, numerous areas of forest in 12 counties of Gilan province have been engulfed by widespread fires, other reports suggest that 9 hectares of forests in western Mazandaran have also been destroyed due to fires over the past two days.
Maziar Razavi, acting head of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Gilan, reported to Mehr News Agency on Tuesday, November 28, about fires occurring in 105 hectares of forest areas in Gilan province, stating that these fires have taken place in 12 counties and 50 locations in Gilan.
He attributed the cause of these fires to wind, rising temperatures, and public negligence, while other regional officials have cited the carelessness of hunters and illegal excavators as reasons for this situation.
The General Directorate of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Gilan reports that due to warm winds and a significant drop in humidity, fires continue in many areas in the highlands of Masal, Rudbar, Shaft, and Astara counties, and there is still no precise information on the extent of the damage and the area of the fires.
