The world heritage registration file for the Zand Complex has been halted for over a decade due to the violation by the Asman Hotel.

The Iranian Plateau account has shared an image of the continued construction of the Asman Hotel in Shiraz, within the visual boundary of the Karim Khan Citadel.

The Iranian Plateau wrote that when the power of corruption, greed, and a few people’s excessive demands outweigh the collective will, identity, and future of the city.

It was previously reported that the world heritage registration file for the Zand Complex in Shiraz, including the Karim Khan Citadel, Divankhaneh, Pars Museum, Vakil Mosque and Bazaar, and Vakil Bathhouse, has been stalled for over a decade due to the Asman Hotel’s violation and the conflict between the municipality and cultural heritage authorities.

Siavash Arya, a historian and cultural heritage activist, had said that the Asman Hotel on Rudaki Street in Shiraz, with its illegal high-rise construction and the addition of four extra floors, has damaged the view of the Karim Khan Citadel and prevented its world heritage registration.

According to him, two floors of these additional constructions were dismantled by court order, but two floors remain standing.
