Three people were executed in Shiraz prison for the crime of rape.
Iranian media have reported that three individuals were executed in Adel Abad prison in Shiraz on the morning of Thursday, December 22, 2022. According to reports, these individuals were hanged for the crime of rape.
The head of the judiciary of Fars province has stated that these three individuals were identified and arrested last October after assaulting and raping several women in Derak Park, Sadra Road, and Akbarabad in Shiraz. According to Kazem Mousavi, they used cold weapons to commit theft and rape.
According to Mr. Mousavi, this case was investigated following complaints filed by several families.
Human rights organizations have consistently criticized Iran as one of the countries with the highest number of executions and have pointed to a significant increase in executions since the government of Ebrahim Raisi came to power in Iran.
