Timber smugglers injured the officers of the Gilan Natural Resources Protection Unit

These individuals had no legal permit to cut down trees. The driver and passenger of this cargo vehicle got into a fight with two protection unit officers and injured them in the eye and cheek with punches and kicks.
With the intervention of the officers from the Shalma Shafaat station, the approximately 35-year-old driver of the Nissan pickup truck was arrested, while the other smuggler fled into the forest after the altercation, and police efforts to capture him are ongoing.
The confiscated timber was transferred to the premises of the Shafaat County Natural Resources Department.
