Tom Cotton in a Letter to the FBI: Possibility of Iranian Infiltration in the Pentagon and Intelligence Agencies

Tom Cotton in a letter to the FBI suggests the possibility of Iranian infiltration in the Pentagon and intelligence agencies

The New York Post in an exclusive report wrote that Senator Tom Cotton has sent a letter to Kash Patel, the FBI director, and Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, requesting an investigation into potential Iranian spies within the U.S. intelligence community.

This letter, sent on Wednesday, September 3rd, asks the FBI and the U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, to thoroughly examine the matter from the perspective of counterintelligence concerns and potential criminal aspects, warning that national security information may have been given to a hostile foreign power.

He has speculated that American citizens may have been serving a hostile government to influence U.S. policy.

The letter specifically names Ariane Tabatabai, a member and founder of the Iranian Experts Initiative, a project launched in 2014 at the initiative of Iran’s Foreign Ministry to promote Tehran’s arguments in the West.

Ms. Tabatabai, a 40-year-old Iranian-American political science researcher, held a high position in the State Department during Joe Biden’s presidency. She still works as a senior political advisor at the Pentagon.

After Joe Biden became President of the United States in January 2021, Tabatabai joined the country’s negotiating team in nuclear talks with Iran.

Last year, Sky News Arabia, citing a Pentagon official, reported that Washington’s intelligence agencies’ investigations concluded that Ariane Tabatabai was likely involved in leaking information about Israel’s attack plans on Iran to entities in Tehran.

In the leaked documents of 2023, she was accused of voluntarily being employed in the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s infiltration operations.
