Transfer of 4 villages in the Qazakh region to Azerbaijan by Armenia
The Armenian government, in order to avoid another war with the Republic of Azerbaijan, handed over four disputed villages to Baku. These villages had been under the control of Armenia for over three decades.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed readiness last month to transfer control of these villages to Azerbaijan and stated that our policy is to prevent war, not to start it. Therefore, we have decided to agree on a more precise delineation of the border in these areas. We are doing this not only for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia but also for the villages in the region to ensure their security.
Pashinyan has repeatedly stated that without a resolution, another war between Baku and Yerevan will occur. He is willing to return these villages, which are important to Yerevan, to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
