Transfer of 4 villages in the Kazakh region to Azerbaijan by Armenia

The Armenian government, to avoid another war with the Republic of Azerbaijan, transferred four disputed villages to Baku. These villages had been under Armenian control for more than three decades.

Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, expressed readiness to transfer control of these villages to the Republic of Azerbaijan late last month, stating that our policy is to prevent war, not to start it. Therefore, we have decided to agree on a more precise border delineation in these areas. We are doing this not only for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia but also for the villages in the region to ensure their security.

Pashinyan, stating that without resolving this issue, another war between Baku and Yerevan would occur, had expressed several times his willingness to return these villages, which are important to Yerevan, to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
