The trial of the former President of the United States has been postponed
The United States Supreme Court announced on Wednesday the 19th that it will decide on Donald Trump’s judicial immunity in the case concerning efforts to change the 2020 election results.
This decision by the U.S. Supreme Court effectively accepts Donald Trump’s request to review this matter, resulting in the postponement of the trial of one of the most important criminal cases involving the former President. The case is being pursued by Jack Smith, a special counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice, and Trump is accused of having played a role in the January 6, 2021, riot and the attack by a group of his supporters on the U.S. Capitol building.
Mr. Smith, in this case, which was scheduled to go to trial on March 4th, has accused Trump of encouraging and inciting his supporters through his actions to riot and change the election outcome.
However, Trump had previously requested to be granted judicial immunity since he was the President of the United States at the time, and his activities were within the scope of performing his legal duties.
