Trump and Zelensky held a 40-minute conversation about Ukraine’s defense systems.

The President of Ukraine said on Friday that he had a very important and fruitful discussion with Donald Trump regarding the strengthening of his country’s air defense.

This conversation took place hours after Russia launched widespread attacks late Thursday night and early Friday morning against Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The Russian attacks occurred shortly after a phone call between Putin and Donald Trump.

Axios news site reports that Donald Trump said in this phone conversation that he is willing to help Ukraine with air defense systems after Russia’s attack on Kyiv.

Ukrainian sources said that this call lasted about 40 minutes.

Volodymyr Zelensky said, ‘We have done a lot of work with the United States and support all efforts to stop the killings and restore a just, lasting, and honorable peace.’

Axios news site quoted a knowledgeable source saying that Trump told Zelensky he would consider the issue of halting the U.S. arms shipments to Ukraine.
