Trump announces an agreement with Venezuela to control more than half of the country’s oil reserves
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that Washington has reached an agreement with Venezuela’s interim government, describing it as the largest oil deal in world history
Trump said that under this agreement, and with the participation of the American private sector, control of more than half of Venezuela’s 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves will be taken
He claimed that this agreement, without imposing costs on American taxpayers, will more than double U.S. oil reserves and that the increased supply of oil in the long term will lead to a reduction in gasoline prices
Trump also said that Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, and Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, participated in the negotiations with Delcy Rodríguez, the interim President of Venezuela
