Trump cites a terrorist attack in Colorado as the reason for the travel ban on 12 countries to the United States
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced in a video message released on Wednesday, June 3, the issuance of a new executive order for imposing travel restrictions. According to this order, the entry of citizens from several countries, including Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Haiti, to the U.S. will be limited or banned.
Trump, referring to the recent terrorist attack in Colorado, described this decision as part of preventive measures to protect U.S. national security. He emphasized that during his previous presidency, similar restrictions were implemented, which he claimed were effective in preventing terrorist attacks.
According to Trump, the countries on the restriction list are those where it is not possible to thoroughly review the backgrounds of their travelers or they do not have sufficient security cooperation with the U.S.
He added that this list is subject to future review and countries may be added or removed from it.
