Trump has elevated Saudi Arabia to the status of a major non-NATO ally

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, during a White House dinner, welcomed Prince Mohammed bin Salman and spoke about the defense contracts and cooperation agreements signed between Saudi Arabia and the United States. He said, ‘Tonight, I am pleased to announce that by officially designating the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally, we are taking our military cooperation to an even higher level.’

About 20 countries are on the list of the United States’ non-NATO allies, which, while not official members of NATO, have special strategic relations with America.
