Trump: I do not want a regime change in Iran
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Tuesday while en route to the NATO summit on Air Force One in a conversation with reporters that he personally does not want a regime change in Iran.
He emphasized that such a change could lead to widespread chaos.
Trump said if a regime change does happen, so be it, but personally, I do not want that. I would like everything to calm down as soon as possible.
Regime change leads to turmoil, and ideally, we do not want to witness all this chaos, so we have to see what happens.
He continued his remarks by adding that the Iranians are very good traders, capable merchants, and they have a lot of oil.
They should be able to rebuild the country and do their job well. They will never acquire nuclear weapons, but apart from that, they should perform well.
Since the start of Israeli attacks on the positions of the Islamic Republic, Trump has indirectly referred to the possibility of a government change several times.
Earlier, he wrote on the social network Truth Social that perhaps using the term regime change might not be politically correct, but if the current government in Iran cannot make Iran great again, why shouldn’t there be a regime change?
