Trump on the eve of negotiations: The Strait of Hormuz will reopen, and Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced before the Islamabad negotiations and while boarding the plane to Charlottesville, Virginia, in a conversation with reporters, that the Strait of Hormuz will soon be reopened.

In response to a question about the criteria for a favorable agreement with Iran, he said the absence of nuclear weapons, and continued by stating that regime change has already occurred.

Trump further stated that not having nuclear weapons and the regime change that has occurred—although it was never one of our goals—99% of the matter is not having nuclear weapons.

The U.S. President also said that the Strait of Hormuz will soon open and added that the strait will open on its own if we leave, emphasizing that the United States is not dependent on this waterway.

In response to reports about the possibility of Iran charging tolls on passing ships, Trump said we will not allow such a thing to happen.
