Trump: Memorandum with Iran signed and the Strait of Hormuz partially reopened
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that a memorandum between Iran and the United States has been signed and the process of reopening the Strait of Hormuz has begun.
He said the Strait of Hormuz has been partially reopened and added that this strategic waterway will be fully reopened on Friday.
Trump also claimed that the agreement with Iran would benefit the entire Middle East region and emphasized that Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Iran has agreed to this, and this issue was the main point of contention.
The President of the United States continued by criticizing the nuclear agreement of Barack Obama’s administration, saying Obama’s agreement with Iran enabled the country to develop nuclear weapons.
Trump’s statements come as Iranian officials say that negotiations on the details of Iran’s nuclear program have been postponed to the second phase of talks, after the official signing of the memorandum. Tehran has also emphasized that the full text of the memorandum will be published on Friday.
