Two members of the Writers’ Association in Iran were arrested

Aida Amidi and Roozbeh Souhani, two members of the board of directors of the Iranian Writers’ Association, were arrested

According to the Iranian Writers’ Association, on Monday morning around 7 AM, security forces attacked Roozbeh Souhani’s apartment, broke into his home, and arrested this board member, transferring him to an unknown location

Based on the statement from the Writers’ Association, security forces attacked the home of Aida Amidi, a poet and another board member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, two hours later. In the same manner, they broke into her apartment, creating fear among her neighbors, and arrested her as well. As of now, there is no information about the status of these two individuals

Soroush Mozaffar Moghadam, a member of the Iranian Writers’ Association currently residing in Turkey, told BBC Persian that the Iranian government is trying to silence nationwide protests in Iran by arresting and imprisoning writers inside the country and threatening them abroad, aiming to suppress civil society
