UAE Opposes Plan to Relocate Palestinians from Gaza for Its Reconstruction
Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday, February 19, during a meeting with Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that his country opposes Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza.
The U.S. President’s plan, which previously spoke of turning Gaza into the beautiful coast of the Middle East, had already faced strong criticism and opposition from Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan.
In his meeting and discussion with Rubio, Al Nahyan emphasized the two-state solution, saying that it is important that the reconstruction of Gaza becomes a path to achieving a sustainable and inclusive peace, a path that leads to the realization of this solution.
The position of the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East crisis is significant because the UAE is one of the four countries that normalized relations with Israel during Trump’s first term and also plays an important role in funding the reconstruction of Gaza.
