UK: Explosion Near Oil Tanker Off Oman Coast Causes Fuel Leak
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported that an oil tanker about 60 nautical miles east of Muscat, the capital of Oman, was targeted by an external explosion.
According to the report, the explosion occurred at 9:45 AM GMT on the left rear section of the ship’s hull, near the waterline. The crew and the ship itself were unharmed, but part of the tanker’s fuel leaked into the sea.
This incident happened one day after US attacks on Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz, which CENTCOM described as a self-defense response to attempts at mine-laying.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Tehran and Washington are continuing discussions on a potential agreement to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, although the two sides still have disagreements regarding the details of the agreement.
