Britain, France, and Germany: Iran continues on its confrontational nuclear path
In a joint statement, Britain, France, and Germany accused Iran of continuing on its confrontational path by increasingly violating its JCPOA commitments.
In their statement released on Wednesday, March 6th, coinciding with the IAEA Board of Governors’ quarterly meeting, these three European countries stated that over the past five years, Iran has advanced its nuclear activities to an unprecedented level for a country without a nuclear weapons program.
Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency, in a confidential report to the Board of Governors, announced that over the past three months, Iran has reduced its 60% enriched uranium stockpile, and the amount of 60% enriched uranium has decreased by five percent compared to November.
In their statement, Britain, France, and Germany, referring to this section of the report by Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, stated that Iran currently possesses 27 times the enriched uranium allowed under the JCPOA. The recent slight reduction in enriched uranium stockpiles to 60% should not lead us to false hope or incorrect conclusions; enrichment to the 60% level has continued unabated.
