The UK has activated the snapback mechanism against Iran

The UK representative at the UN Security Council meeting, rejecting Russia’s accusations, stated that based on Security Council Resolution 2231, we have the full right and authority to request the re-imposition of sanctions, and this process has already begun with the letter from the three European countries.

Barbara Woodward said our decision to activate the snapback mechanism is completely legally justified and in accordance with the requirements of Resolution 2231.

The UK representative at the Security Council meeting added that according to Resolution 2231, to activate the snapback mechanism, it is only necessary, I quote, for one of the JCPOA members to declare an issue that they believe is a serious breach of JCPOA commitments.

She emphasized that it is a clear fact that the three European countries made this declaration on August 28, and therefore the snapback mechanism has been activated.
