The UK Prime Minister announces that the first transfer of settled refugees in the UK will take place in 10 weeks

The UK Prime Minister announced that the first transfer of asylum seekers residing in the UK will take place in 10 weeks.

The UK Prime Minister stated that the first flight carrying asylum seekers residing in the country to Rwanda will take place in the next 10 to 12 weeks.

Rishi Sunak, on Tuesday, without providing details, said that his government has made special arrangements in this regard.

He added, ‘We have put an airport on standby, chartered planes for specific locations, and have 500 trained individuals ready to escort illegal immigrants to Rwanda.’

According to Reuters, the UK Prime Minister also assured that this plan aligns with all of the UK’s international commitments regarding the European Convention on Human Rights.

The UK’s move to send asylum seekers to the African country of Rwanda has faced widespread criticism, leading to legal actions both domestically and internationally to prevent its implementation.
