The United Nations reports that about one million people have fled Rafah in the past three weeks

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Tuesday that about one million people have fled the city of Rafah in Gaza over the past three weeks

This small city on the southern edge of the Gaza Strip had previously become a refuge for more than one million Palestinian refugees who escaped from deadly Israeli attacks in other parts of this besieged area of Palestinian territories

Despite international opposition, the Israeli military began a military operation in Rafah earlier this month to eradicate the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement and destroy the military infrastructure used by Hamas

Palestinian refugees, who are constantly moving between the north and south of the Gaza Strip due to the expansion of Israeli military operations, have been asked to move to a safer area located twenty kilometers from Rafah in southern Gaza
