The UN reporter’s statement regarding the situation of political prisoners in Evin is very concerning.

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran has reported receiving alarming reports about the forced transfer of some prisoners from Evin Prison during and after the recent Israeli attacks.

Mai Sato has particularly expressed concern about the situation of Ali Younesi, a student prisoner, stating that he was forcibly transferred from Ward 4 of Evin Prison on June 19th, and since then, his family has no information about his whereabouts.

Ms. Sato had previously warned about the issuance of a 16-year prison sentence for Ali Younesi following a flawed judicial process. She has also expressed concern over reports of arbitrary arrests, the issuance of death sentences for activists and journalists, and violations of fair trial principles, especially concerning Afghan citizens.

She emphasized that these issues have been raised in a joint statement with the UN fact-finding committee.
